Castlequarter

The descendants of Nicholas2 Beresford and Johanna Kirwan

Many roads lead from Castlequarter

Introduction.

This section on Castlequarter needs to be read in conjunction with the Deelish family tree. They share several overlapping early generations, summarised as follows.

John Beresford, born Deelish 1740, died Annestown 1813, was the foundation person for these family lines. His first son Nicholas1 and Ellen O’Connor continued the line at Deelish, to Phillip Beresford and Johanna Cheasty.

First son Nicholas2 married Johanna Kirwan, and they gave rise to the Castlequarter branch.

Castlequarter was by far the most dominant branch of the Beresford Dungarvan clan. There were two generations of very large and prosperous families, whose descendants spread locally and across the globe. A very proud heritage indeed.
