The descendants of Nicholas Beresford 1767-1815 and Ellen O'Connor 1763-1854
Nicholas1 was the first son of John Beresford. John was born in Deelish 1740, died in Annestown 1813.
The date of Nicholas’s marriage to Ellen O’Conner is not known at this time. The immediate descendants of Nicholas and Ellen gave rise to the Deelish, Syracuse, Kilaadangan and Castlequarter lines. In further generations, Coolnagour was derived from the Castlequarter line.
Shared DNA matches exists between the descendants of John and Nicholas1 and all the descendant lines of Nicholas’s brothers.
Nicholas and Ellen held land at Balintoor, Deelish and Deelish Mountain in mid 1850 and had a family of two sons. Nicholas and Ellen are buried at the Garranbane church.
SYRACUSE. Their second son John Thomas Beresford married Catherine Daley from Cork. Catherine was living at Kilbarrymeaden village. There are conflicting dates for this couple. (The original house is still standing!) She married Thomas Bulger. Daughter Mary Bulger born 1885 married Homer Osborne and their grandchildren are the Reid and Taylor families in Syracuse.
