Ballintoor & Monarud

The descendants of Henry Beresford 1780-1858 and Catherine Queley 1783-1833

Henry was the 2nd son of John Beresford 1740-1813. (John was born Deelish, died Annestown.)

At this point the full extent of Henry’s family group is not established. Henry and Catherine lived around Ballintoor/Deelish. They held land at Ballintoor, Deelish and Deelish Mountain. They had a family of five (or more).  Henry and Catherine are buried at Garranbane church.

A significant unknown is the family of Julia Beresford. Julia, a widow, held land at Ballintoor in 1848 – a large farm of 90 acres. (Griffiths valuation and other docs).  This suggests that Julia was born around 1810 ?. Was she married to an unidentified son of Henry and Kath? What happened to this farm?

William Beresford in later generations at Deelish has a “fur and feather notice” in the Dungarvan Newspaper stating “ Lands at Ballintoor and Deelish are preserved”. Willian had land in Ballintoor – did he inherit the land owned by Julia?
